Parallel parking is a sequence. Learn the sequence and it becomes routine.
Signal and stop alongside
Pull up next to the car in front of the space, about two feet away, bumpers lined up.
Reverse and turn in
Check mirrors and blind spot. Back slowly and turn the wheel fully toward the curb until the car is at about 45 degrees.
Straighten
When your front bumper clears the car ahead, turn the wheel the other way as you continue back.
Center and check
Straighten the wheels, center in the space, and check the distance to the curb.
