What the prep lesson covers
We practice the maneuvers and habits examiners score, with test-style directions so nothing feels new on the day.
- Pre-drive safety check
- Smooth stops, turns and lane changes
- Scanning, mirrors and blind-spot checks
- Backing and parking
- Speed control in school and residential zones
Test day
On test day your instructor warms you up with a final practice drive. You bring your permit and required documents; the DMV controls appointments, testing and results.
Taking your drive test at the Chico DMV office
Book your behind-the-wheel appointment on dmv.ca.gov first, then book the exam package so lesson 2 falls on your appointment day. Tell us which DMV office you booked, whether that is the Chico DMV office or another office, so lesson 2 is planned around it.
The prep lesson practices the kinds of streets examiners use near a DMV office: residential streets, school zones, signalized intersections and lane changes. We do not sell "exact test routes": the examiner chooses the route on the day.
- Before test day: lesson 1, a prep lesson on everything the examiner scores
- Your appointment day: lesson 2, a warm-up drive in our dual-control car
- At the DMV: you take the test in the car you practiced in, subject to DMV requirements on the day
- Bring your permit, your appointment details and the documents the DMV asks for
Common questions
Can I use your car for the test?
Yes, with the DMV exam package, subject to DMV requirements on the day.
When is lesson 2?
On your DMV road-test appointment date, so book the DMV appointment first. A no-show or a cancellation under 24 hours uses the lesson. The package is valid 90 days from purchase.
What if the DMV cancels?
A DMV cancellation that does not stop us from teaching follows the normal booking rules; we help you rebook.
Do you guarantee a pass?
No school can. We prepare you for exactly what is scored.
